Despite falling trees, blustering winds, intermittent downpours and sunny spells, LAA athletes had a tremendous day at the Leamington Open Meeting, held on 15th July on our own track.
LAA was represented in every event - except the hammer, showing just how multi-event our club really is.
Well done to sisters Lola and Daisy who both got PB's in the 1500m with a hideous headwinds on the backstraight. Sam R managed a consistent run only 2 seconds off his PB in the worse weather of the day.
The Quadkids event (U11 & U9) is mult-event programme where our youngest get to throw, run and jump for points, to find the overall champ. Well done to James,Alkies, Emily, Gabrielle and Mila for taking part.
And CONGRATULATIONS to Alkies and Gabrielle who won silver and bronze.
Once again Andre O was out trying multiple events; 100, 200 and long jump. As was Marisa L., who tried discus for the first time. Marisa is a great role model for just giving things a go!
A BIG SHOUT OUT...
to Amelia and Daisy, who made Coach Trevor very happy by giving the javelin a go. Great support from the Goulding and Canning family, who were certainly making themselves heard everytime they threw!
Many of our athletes train with us for many years before they finally daring to compete. WELL DONE to Veda, Evie and Bella, your Head Coach is very proud of you.
Congratulations to all who competed and especially to those who have never done a track event before. We hope you now have a taste for it. :-)
